Bronx Student Wins Tabula Digita Competition!

Tabula Digita, with partners Dell and Intel, recently hosted the Third Annual New York City MEGABOWL Tournament! Students from all over New York City convened on the Columbia University campus to compete for top points and prizes. Individuals and teams competed by playing Multiplayer v3.0.  This year's event was bigger and better than ever! Congratulations to McLean T. from Public School 55 in the Bronx, who won the Elementary School Individual competition. Here you can  view the newscast on  WABC-TV News highlighting the event.

NYS Learning Technology Grants Awarded to Bronx Schools

The New York State Eduation Department has announced the winners of the Learning Technology Grant for 2009-2012. NYSED is very excited about the caliber of Learning Technology Grant programs funded and look forward to sharing this work with others. Each funded school will receive $50.000.00 for each year of the grant, totaling $150.000.00 over the trree years.  We are pleased to highlight several Bronx schools that have been awarded the Learning Technology Grant. Local Educator Becomes ‘Google Certified’ at Google Teacher Academy for Administrators

Crystal Lindsay, Technology Innovations Manager for the Bronx Office of Educational Technology
became one of the first educators to recieve Google Administrator Certification. Fifty-one technology administrators gathered in San Antonio, Texas where they successfully completed professional development specifically designed meet the various needs using Google. 

 The Google Teacher Academy for Administrators is a free professional development experience designed to help K-12 educational leaders get the most from innovative technologies. Each Academy is an intensive, one-day event where participants get hands-on experience with Google's products and technologies, learn about innovative instructional strategies, and receive resources to share with colleagues. Upon completion, Academy participants become Google Certified Teachers who share what they learn with other K-12 educators in their local regions and beyond.

Google Certified Teachers are exceptional K-12 educators with a passion for using innovative tools to improve teaching and learning, as well as creative leaders and ambassadors for change. They are recognized experts and widely admired for their commitment to high expectations for students, life-long learning and collaboration.

The Google Certified Teacher program was launched in 2006 with the first Academy held at Google headquarters in Mountain View. The program has since held several academies across the US, expanding the ranks of Google Certified Teachers. This is the first Google Teacher Academy focused exclusively on educational leaders. The Google Teacher Academy is produced by Google, in collaboration with CUE and WestEd, both educational non-profit organizations.
